Maintenance dose

·independent & ad-free

Maintenance dose - The stable dose you settle on after ramping up. Some protocols start with a higher „loading" phase, then drop to the maintenance dose.

Also called maintenancetarget dosesteady dose

The maintenance dose is the steady dose kept after gradually increasing the starting dose (titrating up), to sustain the desired effect.

Loading vs. maintenance

Some treatment plans (protocols) use a higher starting phase (a so-called "loading phase") to build up a sufficient level of the drug in the blood faster, then drop to the lower maintenance dose. Not every substance needs this.
