Cold chain
Cold chain - The unbroken refrigeration of sensitive substances from manufacture to use. Gaps (e.g. long warm shipping) can reduce potency.
Also called cold chainrefrigeratedcold storagestorage
The cold chain is the unbroken temperature control of a sensitive product - from manufacture through shipping and storage to use.
Why it matters for peptides
Dissolved peptides (short protein building blocks found in many modern active ingredients) are heat-sensitive. As a freeze-dried powder (lyophilizate) they are more robust, but prolonged heat (e.g. days of summer shipping) can reduce potency. After mixing, refrigeration is usually required.
In practice
Follow the manufacturer's guidance; store refrigerated and usually avoid freezing the finished solution (unless explicitly intended).
